How does Hireup work?
At the heart of everything we do is a simple, powerful purpose: to enable the pursuit of a good life for everyone. Hireup is a pioneering, for-purpose online platform that empowers people with disability and older Australians to find, hire, and manage their own support workers. By removing the traditional "middleman," we facilitate direct, meaningful connections between Clients and Support Workers who share personal interests and align with their specific support needs.
- Create an account with Hireup
-
Interact with the Job Board
- For Workers - search the Job Board for relevant jobs and apply!
- For Clients - post a job and review the applicants
-
Connect with Clients/Workers and agree on a booking date and time
- A meet-and-greet is recommended to determine if you’re a good fit for each other!
- A booking is then created on the Hireup platform by the Client (or person managing the account)
- The shift is completed and the booking submitted by the Worker
- The booking details are reviewed and approved by the Client (or person managing the account)
- Hireup invoices the Client and pays the Support Worker
Value for Clients
Hireup puts choice and control back into the hands of the individual. We offer a platform where clients can build a team of support workers who truly understand them, fostering relationships that go beyond just meeting daily needs—often bridging the gap between therapy goals and everyday life. By handling the complex administrative burdens—such as payroll, tax, superannuation, insurance, and reporting—we provide a secure, transparent, and flexible environment that allows our community to focus on what matters most.
Value for Support Workers
We believe that supporting others is a career, not just a job. Unlike many other platforms, Hireup directly employs our support workers. This commitment means our workers receive the security and benefits of employment, including award wages, superannuation, workers' compensation insurance, and access to career development opportunities. We empower our workers to do work that has real impact, aligning their professional skills with personal values and the lived experience of the people they support.
A Commitment to Safety and Connection
Whether you are a client looking for reliable support or a worker seeking a rewarding career, Hireup provides peace of mind through a robust safety framework, comprehensive insurance, and an incident management team dedicated to quality and standards. We don't just connect people; we help build communities, ensuring that every hour of support delivered is safe, reliable, and contributes to the pursuit of a good life.

Can I use Hireup and another agency/employer at the same time?
Absolutely. We don’t ask for singular commitment or require you to sign exclusive contracts.
For Clients, there are no upfront fees, obligations, or lock-in terms. You can use Hireup to organise as few or as many hours of support as you need, and we only charge you for the hours you choose to process through our platform. Hireup can act as your main source of workers and support, or supplement your support network flexibly.
For workers, you can be employed in other sectors, or even with other disability providers! The amount of work, and who you work with, is completely up to you and your availability. Please note that Hireup does not cover the cost of compliance documents required to be a support worker with Hireup.
Users will only be covered by Hireup’s comprehensive insurance if a booking is made before the shift commences. If you work without creating a booking first, you will not be covered by Hireup's insurance, and we cannot guarantee payment/invoicing. It is also a breach of a Hireup worker’s casual employment contract to arrange work outside of the Hireup platform with another Hireup user.

Does Hireup guarantee service?
The availability of Hireup’s service depends on three key factors:
- User Activity (Location) – There needs to be active clients/workers in your location that can meet your needs. For example, for a client, there needs to be active support workers in your area who meet your support needs. For clients, we can offer guidance on how to recruit support workers onto the platform.
- Support Types – Some types of support cannot be facilitated on the Hireup platform. We will work with clients to understand their requirements and assist in finding appropriate support if Hireup is not appropriate.
When there are active and relevant users in your area, who you connect with is entirely up to you!
Booking cancellations
Hireup requires all clients and support workers to provide notice of cancelled shifts within our Statement on Cancellations. To ensure clients are not left without critical supports, Hireup recommends developing a range of support options, including a team of support workers with varying availability, even if this means accessing other service providers who can assist with 'on-call support'.
Suspension or Termination of Service
If Hireup is made aware of any incidents or issues which could be a breach of our Service Agreement, Employment Agreement, Code of Conduct, or a Hireup Policy or Procedure, access to our platform may be suspended.
We understand that users seeking support need continuity of service, and we will work with you to develop an agreed continuity of service plan if you are suspended. For more information, see our Statement on Service Access and Exit for Clients and Statement on Suspension and Termination for Disability Support Workers.
