Getting redirected to Cited and creating an account
Once your Tax File Number has been successfully validated on your Hireup application, you’ll be redirected to the Cited website and asked to upload your required documents via their platform. Cited is our trusted verification partner and they’ll review your documents on our behalf.
Before you start
You will need the following documents ready for upload:
- Australian Work Rights Confirmation
- First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Work with Vulnerable People Check (TAS and ACT only)
If you don’t have any of these documents yet, we recommend applying for them as soon as possible. To learn about the required documents, costs, and how to apply, visit this page.
On the Cited website, you’ll be prompted to create an account and verify your mobile number. Then you’ll see a dashboard where you can upload each document.
Tip: Use the same email address linked to your Hireup account to avoid delays with your application.
Uploading your documents
On the Cited dashboard, you’ll see which core documents you’ll need to upload individually. To begin, click ‘Start’ on the first document you’d like to upload. You’ll be asked a series of questions about your identity and the document that’s being verified.
To complete your verification, you’ll need to follow the same process for each of the following documents:
- Australian Work Rights Confirmation
- First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Work with Vulnerable People Check (TAS and ACT only)
If you don’t have any of these documents yet, we recommend applying for them as soon as possible. To learn about the required documents, costs, and how to apply, visit this page.
Tip:
- Do NOT select ‘Can not supply’ if you are yet to apply for a document or in the process of applying. This will delay processing. Simply move onto uploading another document while you wait.
- Remember to keep checking your emails. If you don’t resubmit within the allotted time, Cited will close your verification process and you’ll need to contact Hireup to continue.
Verifying your identity
There are two options to verify your identity:

Express Verification (Mobile device required)
Scan the QR code with the camera on your device to start the process of uploading your Australian Passport and Australian Driver Licence. These must be original and up to date.
You’ll be required to provide your personal details including your current name and date of birth before using your camera to capture images of your identity documents.

Standard Verification (If you do not have access to original and up to date Australian Passport and Australian Driver Licence documents)
Cited will ask you to provide your personal details and upload a photo of yourself with a sign that has the word ‘Cited’ written on it. This is only used to confirm your identity.
Returning to Hireup
At any point while completing your verification via Cited, you can return to your Hireup account and continue with building your profile.
To be able to read and sign your Hireup employment agreement, you’ll first need to have all of your documents verified by Cited. When this happens, you’ll be notified via email. After this point, you’ll officially be considered a Hireup employee and get access to our platform to start connecting with clients and finding work!
Frequent challenges and solutions

Incorrect or expired document uploaded
It’s important that you upload the correct documents, as uploading incorrect or expired documents will delay processing. In this case, Cited will have to reject this document and then request that you resubmit the correct document.
Tip: Check that the name of the document you are uploading is right first. -
Incorrect checks applied for
When applying for new checks and certificates, please ensure you’re applying for the correct ones stipulated by Hireup. For example, Hireup will only accept a ‘Paid’ or ‘Employee’ Working with Children Check and not a ‘Volunteer’ one. - Avoid uploading documents that have not been requested by Hireup, as this will trigger a payment that isn’t necessary.

Name change/different name
If you’ve changed your name or have different names on your documents, you’ll need to provide proof of this name change with either a Marriage or Divorce certificate. -
Unclear image/screenshot
When uploading images, scans or screenshots, please ensure they are clear and legible. Avoid taking any photo of your computer screen with your phone, as any blur or cropping that affects legibility will delay processing. -
Additional support documents
If you’ve indicated that you’d like to provide transport support or work with children, you’ll need to upload additional documents AFTER you’ve been approved. However, note that you can start working regular shifts immediately while you wait for your additional support documents to be verified.
