Outline
As in every working relationship, there will be difficult conversations that can make us feel uncomfortable. Hireup believes in empowering support workers, clients and account managers to connect openly and transparently to form great working relationships.
The specific duties that you will undertake as a support worker will be set by the person you support or in conjunction with their family or account manager. We understand that sometimes things happen and you could be put in a position where you may need to reflect on whether the proposed support or arrangement is part of your role and responsibility as a support worker. If it does not align with your role or if you’re unsure, notify Hireup of this situation as soon as possible.
What should I do if the person I support asks me to work without creating a booking through Hireup?
You will only be covered by Hireup’s comprehensive insurance if a booking is made before the shift commences. If you work without creating a booking first, you will not be covered by Hireup's insurance. It is also a breach of your Hireup casual employment contract to arrange work outside of the Hireup platform with another Hireup user.
All of our support workers sign an employment contract that states under clause:
3.4 Offline Arrangements:
You must not propose or accept an Offline Arrangement with any Participant or their Account Manager (as appropriate). You must notify Hireup immediately if you are asked by a Participant or Account Manager to undertake work as part of an Offline Arrangement.
Hireup will not pay or compensate you for any work you undertake as part of an offline arrangement, and such work will not be covered by Hireup’s insurance or payroll processes. If you are ever presented with a situation where you feel what is being asked of you is outside your role as a support worker and employment agreement please advise Hireup immediately on (02) 91135 933 or email hello@hireup.com.au
