1. What is Hireup’s specialised support training?
Hireup’s specialised support training consists of six modules that cover:
- Medication Management; Manual Handling - Specialised
- Bowel Care
- Epilepsy & Seizure Support
- Diabetes & Subcutaneous Injections
- Catheter Care, Tube Feeding, Mealtime Management
- Insights Into Behaviour
2. Is this training mandatory?
Only specific modules are required for support workers once a booking is received with a client who requires specialised support.
3. Can everyone access this training?
The Specialised Support Modules are available to all workers. Payment will only be made when you are required to assist clients with a particular specialised support needs.
4. How much do I get paid?
You will be paid at the Level 1 weekday rate for the training. You are required to complete the training on a weekday between 6am - 8pm. After completing any of the module(s) within the bullet points as listed above, you will be paid for one hour at the weekday rate after the specialised booking is approved.
5. How do I know which specialised support training modules I need to complete?
Specialised support training modules will be assigned to you based on the specific needs of the clients you support. You will receive an email notification and see the required modules listed in your Hireup Academy profile.
6. Will my training show on my profile for clients to see?
Yes, all required training that you have completed will be visible on your profile page for clients to see. Optional training may be displayed in the future.
7. Where can I find this training?
Head to Hireup Academy.
8. Do I have to complete all six modules if I provide specialised support?
No, you only have to complete the modules assigned to you in Hireup Academy.
9. Although the person I support requires specialised support, I don’t provide any, do I need to complete this training?
Yes, if a client indicates they need specialised support, it's crucial for the support worker to be trained accordingly. This ensures that you are prepared to handle any unforeseen situations that may arise during bookings.
10. Do I have to complete the modules in order?
No, you can complete the modules in any order that suits you.
11. I support more than one person with the same specialised support needs. Do I need to do the same module twice?
No, you only need to complete each module once. However, if you support someone with a different type of specialised support later, you will be required to complete the relevant training for that support.
12. What if my client’s needs change and require new specialised support training?
If your client’s needs change and they require new specialised support, the relevant training modules will be automatically assigned to you. You will have 7 days to complete these new modules.
13. How long do I have to complete each module?
Each set of modules (as listed in bullet points above) is paid as one hour of work. Support workers have 7 days to complete their assigned training. If the training is not completed within this period, you will be soft-locked on the platform, preventing you from accepting new bookings requiring specialised support. If training is not completed within a further 7 days, a hard lock will be imposed, and any bookings requiring that particular support will be cancelled. Restrictions are lifted within 3 hours of completing the training.
14. What if I cannot complete the training in 7 days?

15. Can I start the training and finish it later?
Yes, your progress will be saved, allowing you to complete the training at your own pace. You can stop and start the training as needed.
16. Will I receive reminders to complete my training?
Yes, you will receive email and text reminders to complete your assigned training. Reminders will be sent on days 3, 6, and 7. If training is not completed within 7 days, further reminders will be issued.
17. What happens if I don’t pass the quiz for a module?
All quizzes allow unlimited retries. If you do not pass the quiz on the first attempt, review your answers and try again until you achieve the required pass rate of 80%.
18. What if I answer a question incorrectly during the training?
You will be prompted to re-answer the question until you get it right. Don’t worry, guidance is provided to help you through the process.
19. How do I track my training progress?
You can track your training progress in your Hireup Academy profile. Your completed and pending modules will be listed, along with your progress in each module.
