Our pricing model
We give people access to affordable support without compromising support worker wages. That is our commitment to providing a fair and accessible service.
The Hireup model is pretty simple. As a national online platform, we are designed to work at scale, meaning the cost of things like insurance premiums and our administrative services are kept low for the individual.
As the legal employer of our support workers, we pay industry-leading wages that include casual and penalty loading. We passionately believe that paying support workers properly means you get high quality support from people who are happy and love their work. Our contractor-free model also means we take care of superannuation and tax contributions so our users don’t have to.
Hireup is compatible with all forms of funding, including the NDIS. Our rates come in under the NDIS hourly rate, which saves our users thousands and affording them many more hours of support.
Our pricing breakdown
The Hireup standard rate is $66.46. Hireup support workers receive $45.86 (incl. $4.73 superannuation).
The rest covers:
- Worker taxes
- Payroll and invoicing
- Comprehensive insurance cover for every shift booked and paid for on Hireup
- Hireup’s online platform and Community Support team
We follow the SCHADS industry award
Hireup rates align with the 'Home Care' line of the Social Community Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) industry award. Our rates include casual and penalty loadings where applicable according to evening, weekend and public holiday shift times.
Paying for Hireup as an NDIS participant
Since launching in 2015, Hireup has saved its users over $46m compared to NDIS prices.

How are bookings charged?
We employ all of our support workers and align our rates with the ‘Home Care’ stream of the Social Community Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) industry award.
The SCHADS industry award outlines the minimum wages and entitlements of our disability support workers in Australia.
In accordance with the SCHADS industry award:
A weekday booking is between 6am and 8pm.
A weekday evening booking is between 8pm and 12 midnight (in the SCHADS award this is referred to as an afternoon rate).
A weekday night booking is 12 midnight and before 6am.
If a weekday booking ends after 8pm and at/or before 12 midnight, the entire shift will be charged at the evening rate.
If a weekday booking ends after 12am or starts before 6am, the entire shift will be charged at the weekday night rate.
For bookings on a Saturday, there is one rate for all day.
For bookings on a Sunday, there is one rate for all day.
For bookings on a Public Holiday, there is one rate for all day.
For information on how sleepover bookings are charged, please read: How do sleepover bookings work?
When booking through Hireup, the total hours and cost of the booking is displayed. You or your account manager must review this before submitting the request.
How is going on a holiday charged?
As with all bookings, the platform will assist you when calculating the appropriate charges for your holiday. The hourly cost for holidays will be the same as any other shift on Hireup.
When booking your holiday support, it’s best to organise and set expectations with your worker, before booking it through the Hireup platform.
Things to consider are:
- Who will be paying for expenses like accommodation or flights?
- Will the worker be providing support the entire trip?
- If you don’t require support throughout the day, what is the expectation of the worker?
If your worker is providing active support throughout the trip, you will book them for each hour they are required. This means that the worker is booked for the entire day, and would need to be discussed with your worker prior to making the booking.

Claimable supports
Our table of claimable supports outlines the support budgets that we are registered to claim.
The NDIA specifies the maximum rate that we can claim under each support category. We can only claim the full cost of support booked within the items marked “Yes” in the table.
You have the option to pay privately for the difference between the NDIA maximum rate and the Hireup rate.
Please note: This table is only valid to support workers paid at level 1.
If you would like to increase the pay level of your support worker, please contact us.
Do I have to pay GST on the support I receive on Hireup?
Hireup rates (cost to the client) are shown exclusive of GST. In most cases, Hireup services are GST exempt, however some limited exceptions may apply.
Vehicle Allowances for Transport Support
In accordance with the SCHADS industry award, if a worker uses their own car during a shift they are entitled to claim a Vehicle Allowance. Go to Information About Vehicle Allowance to read more.
