Reporting Obligations
Hireup has a Zero Tolerance policy towards the harm, violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination of children or people with disability.
Whilst Hireup is actively working to prevent incidents of harm, violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination, we recognise that we must also have strong procedures in place to respond to allegations of harm, ensuring that we provide quality support for Clients, Account Managers and Support Workers.
We are all responsible for taking immediate action if we witness, suspect or are notified of an incident or allegation of harm, violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation or discrimination of a child or a person with a disability.
Hireup Support Workers are mandatory reporters. If you become aware of or have suspicions on reasonable grounds of the risk of harm, harm, violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation and discrimination of children or people with disability, you must report it to the relevant state-based agency or authority immediately.
After reporting to the relevant state-based agency or authority, you must report to Hireup on (02) 9113 5933 available from 8.00am-5.30pm Monday to Friday or submit an online incident report form which is monitored 24 hours per day.

Child Harm, Abuse and Neglect
Child harm, violence abuse and neglect refers to any behaviour or treatment by parents, caregivers, other adults or older adolescents that results in the likelihood of and/or actual physical or emotional harm to a child or young person. Such behaviours may be intentional or unintentional. Child abuse and neglect can be face to face or online.
Child abuse and neglect is commonly divided into five subtypes:
- physical abuse
- emotional or psychological abuse
- neglect
- sexual abuse or exploitation
- exposure to family violence

Violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination of people with disability
If you suspect, have observed, or have been notified of an incident of violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination of a person with disability, you must report it. This may include but is not limited to assault, sexual assault, physical or emotional neglect, , forced treatments, forced interventions, humiliation and harassment, financial and economic abuse and significant violations of privacy and dignity.

Elderly Abuse
Elder abuse is a single or repeated act or failure to act, often caused by someone who is trusted by the older person, such as a family member, friend, professional, or paid caregiver that causes harm to an adult 65 years and older.
