What training do support workers receive?
We know how important effective and relevant training can be, and as an employer, we’re serious about providing our workers with a great system to deliver the learning opportunities they want and need. That's why we have Hireup Academy, an online learning hub for all of our support workers.
Introductory Learning Modules
It is a requirement for all active Hireup support workers to complete Hireup’s first six training modules. These modules give our users the tools to navigate their way around the platform and community with confidence. Our modules also reinforce our workplace health and safety guidelines.

- Working Safely
- Safeguarding Against Harm
- Infection Control
- Manual Handling
- Mental Health & Wellbeing
Specialised Support Learning Modules
It’s required for all Hireup support workers who have a booking with someone who requires specialised support to complete assigned specialised support training modules. These learnings dive into how to work safely when providing complex support and what it means for our workers. The six modules are:
- Medication Management; Manual Handling - Specialised
- Bowel Care
- Epilepsy & Seizure Support
- Diabetes; Subcutaneous Injections
- Catheter Care; Tube Feeding; Mealtime Management
- Insights Into Behaviour
Aged care learning modules
It is required for all Hireup workers who are providing ongoing support to aged care clients to complete the “Aged Care Learning Modules". These modules are assigned after your first aged care booking is approved. These modules ensure our worker community can provide safe, high quality care to our aged care clients in line with the Aged Care Strengthened Standards and Code of Conduct. The two required modules are:
- Introduction to Aged Care
- Supporting People with Dementia
