All of our Support Workers are direct employees of Hireup - we take care of your pay, tax, superannuation contributions and insurance.
As casual employees, you are entitled to 25% casual loading (in place of leave entitlements). This is in accordance with the FairWork National Employment Standards.
Hireup Pay Rate
Standard Hireup Pay Rates
The Hireup standard hourly pay rate is $45.86 including Super ($41.13 excluding Super). The standard hourly cost to Clients is $66.46.
The difference allows us to take care of comprehensive insurance, superannuation and tax payments so you don’t have to. Keeping costs low for our Clients while paying you industry-leading wages is our commitment to building a fair and accessible service.
Our standard pay rate follows the SCHADS industry award, includes casual and penalty loading (where appropriate), and increases according to evening, weekend, public holiday and bookings less than one hour.
Here's more information on our Pay Rates.
Overtime
We align your wages with the SCHADS industry award, hence minimum pay rates and conditions of employment are set in place. One of these conditions is paid overtime where overtime is worked. Get More information on overtime.
Bookings Less Than 2 Hours
In accordance with Fair Work legislation, you will be paid more than the standard rate for shifts less than two hours. This additional amount is known as the ‘Fair Work top up’. Please note that the additional amount only applies to ‘in-person bookings’ and is not paid for remote bookings. Remote bookings or remote supports take place over phone or video call, and are billed per hour.
Hireup Pay Cycle
You are paid on a fortnightly basis, with the two-week cycle ending every Sunday, and pay day being the following Wednesday. All worked shifts need to be submitted to your Clients for approval by midnight Sunday to be included in the following pay cycle. If any shifts are approved late, they will be paid in the following fortnightly payroll.
To access your Payslips via the platform:
- Log into your Hireup Support Worker profile
- Select your Profile Picture (top right-hand corner of your screen)
- Select ‘Payroll’
- Your Payslips will be listed under ‘Previous Pay Periods’
Taxes
Declaring your Income as a Casual Employee
Hireup is your legal employer. So you’ll receive casual and penalty loading, superannuation, and comprehensive insurance. Australian Law requires all casual employees to declare their income. Declaring your income for the financial year happens with your annual tax return through the Australian Tax Office (ATO).
If you're taxed as an Australian resident, the first $18,200 of your yearly income will not be taxed. This is called the tax-free threshold. You can claim the tax-free threshold to reduce the amount of tax that is withheld from your pay during the year. You can only claim this threshold from one employer. This threshold is equivalent to:
- $350 a week
- $700 a fortnight
- $1,517 a month
To claim the Tax-Free Threshold:
- Log into your Hireup Support Worker profile
- Select your Profile Picture (top right-hand corner of your screen)
- Select ‘Settings’
- Select ’Financial Details’ (left-hand side of your screen)
- Under the ’Tax Free Threshold’ title, select ‘Yes’
- Click ‘Save’ (bottom of the screen)

Group Certificates
Your end of year payment summary (group certificate) is provided to you through your myGov portal and not from Hireup.
Through your myGov portal, your payment summary will be called an ‘income statement’.
Your income statement will show your year-to-date salary, the tax that has been withheld, and your superannuation entitlements, just like your group certificate would.
We have until the 14th of July to report your income statement.
If you have any questions about these reporting changes, or need to create a myGov account, please head to the ATO website.
If you have further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact our Community Support Team for assistance.
