Introduction
Building a safe and trusted community is at the heart of Hireup's mission. For those seeking Aged Care support, knowing that Support Workers are thoroughly vetted is essential for peace of mind. Hireup employs a multi-layered verification process for all its Support Workers—who are employees, not contractors—to ensure they meet the highest standards of safety and professional conduct.
Here is an overview of how Hireup verifies workers through its partnership with Cited, a national workforce compliance platform.
What are the minimum requirements for all Aged Care Support Workers on the Hireup platform?
- First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Vulnerable People Check (ACT and TAS only)
- Demonstrate Australian work rights (including adherence to Hireup’s visa restrictions)
- 100 Points of ID (e.g., Australian Driver’s Licence, Passport)
Additional Requirements for Specific Services:
- Transport Support: A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (previously known as a National Police Check) is also required.
How does Hireup verify Workers documentation?
Hireup partners with Cited, an ISO27001-accredited platform, to manage compliance documentation securely. This partnership ensures that all worker data is handled with confidentiality and safety. Cited’s system streamlines the verification process, making it easier for Support Workers to stay compliant and for Hireup to maintain necessary oversight. We ensure Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks, state-based checks and the right to work are always valid and up to date.
What are the verification steps?
Before a Support Worker can begin delivering support to any person through Hireup, they must successfully complete several key checks:
-
Identity Verification (100 Points of ID): Every Support Worker must provide 100 points of identification to confirm they are a real person.
-
Identity Check: Cited performs a unique identity check where Support Workers upload a selfie holding a sign that says "Cited" to confirm that the person in the documents matches the person applying.
-
Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (if providing transport to our community): This check is mandatory for all Support Workers who provide transport to our community and is repeated regularly to ensure records remain current.
-
Right to Work: Hireup verifies the Australian work rights of every applicant, including detailed checks for visa holders.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check: As an NDIS Registered Provider, Hireup requires Support Workers to undergo this national assessment of their potential risk to participants.
Specialised Training for Aged Care
Verification at Hireup goes beyond paperwork. Support Workers are also required to complete specific safety and quality training through the Hireup Academy. For those providing Aged Care, this includes:
-
Introduction to Aged Care: Covers the Aged Care Code of Conduct and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
-
Supporting People with Dementia: Specialised training to ensure Support Workers can provide compassionate and effective care for individuals with dementia.
- Core Safety Modules: All Support Workers must complete training in manual handling, infection control, and safeguarding against harm. You can review the full list of Required Training for support workers here.
How do we ensure safety and compliance through ongoing monitoring?
Trust isn't built once; it's maintained. Hireup’s system proactively monitors document expiry dates. If a document like a police check or first aid certificate is about to expire, the Support Worker is notified to renew it via Cited. If renewed documents are not provided within the specified timeframes, Support Workers may be temporarily restricted from accepting new bookings or, in some cases, have their account deactivated until compliance documents are updated. This helps to ensure that only verified and compliant Support Workers remain active on the platform
By combining advanced technology with strict training and background requirements, Hireup ensures that the Support Workers in our community are not just qualified, but also safe and reliable partners in care.
Verification of additional Qualifications
Hireup enables Support Workers who have completed a qualification through a Registered Training Organisation or other professional training provider to upload these certificates for review and validation.
In Australia, verifying an accreditation or qualification depends on what type of qualification it is (university degree, VET/TAFE certificate, trade licence, professional registration, etc.). Hireup engages a third party organisation, called “Jigsaw” to assist with the Support Worker qualification verification process who follow a standardised process as below:
-
Request Official Documentation: If necessary, request a certified copy of the certificate, an official academic transcript, or digital verification for formal confirmation. The issuing institution can also confirm completion with the individual’s consent.
-
Check the Qualification Details: A legitimate certificate should include the full name of the provider, qualification title, date of completion, official logo/formatting, and for VET, the qualification code and RTO number.
-
Confirm the Education Provider Is Registered:
-
Higher Education: Check the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) National Register to confirm the provider is registered and authorised to deliver the qualification level (e.g., Bachelor, Master).
- Vocational Education & Training (VET/RTO): Check the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) register via training.gov.au to confirm the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is active and the qualification code is nationally recognised
-
Higher Education: Check the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) National Register to confirm the provider is registered and authorised to deliver the qualification level (e.g., Bachelor, Master).
Provided that these qualifications/certificates meet the standardised verification requirements, these “verified” certificates will be visible to our older Australian and NDIS community on each Support Worker profile under the qualification section.
Please note: If the qualification or certification is listed as “self-declared” it has not been verified by Hireup.
