Hireup is the legal employer of all support workers on our platform. So you’ll receive casual and penalty loading, superannuation, and comprehensive insurance. Australian Law requires all casual employees to declare their income. Declaring your income for the financial year happens with your annual tax return through the Australian Tax Office (ATO).
If you're taxed as an Australian resident, the first $18,200 of your yearly income isn't taxed. This is called the tax-free threshold. You can claim the tax-free threshold to reduce the amount of tax that is withheld from your pay during the year. You can only claim this threshold from one employer. This threshold is equivalent to:
- $350 a week
- $700 a fortnight
- $1,517 a month
